GE Healthcare (GEHC)
is a $17 billion unit within General Electric Company, supporting healthcare
professionals and their patients in more than 100 countries worldwide.
With more than 45 years of experience in chromatography and delivery of
more than 450,000L of resins and a very large number of systems and columns
per year, GEHC is headquartered in Uppsala located 70km north of the capital
of Sweden Stockholm. The site origins from 1950´s and was constructed
by the former owner Pharmacia to facilitate cooperation with the
University of Uppsala. 
The site is 38 acres and includes Research & Development, Manufacturing,
QC, Utilities, Logistics and Administration. It is certified according
to quality standard ISO 9001:2000 and follows strictly extensive routines
regarding environment, health and safety.
During the
tour, participants will be able to learn more about the company, chromatography
and also view the operations including research & development, manufacturing,
QC and delivery of products used in discovery, development, and manufacturing
of more than 90% of all biopharmaceuticals.

Alfa Laval´s site in Tumba, 20 km south of Stockholm, hosts Marketing
Units, Research & Development of High-Speed centrifuges, Logistics,
Administration, Laboratories and Testing facilities, including a customer
FAT laboratory.
During
the visit, the participants will be able to learn more about the company
and its range of equipment for the biopharmaceutical industries. A guided
tour to view the testing and laboratory facilities will also be included.
