Charles Soothill
Charles Soothill is vice president of technology for Alstom Power
Systems, United Kingdom, where he directs technology research and development
strategy and policy. Soothill is a member of the company’s management
committee and reports to the president of Alstom. He has been active in
developing technologies for efficiency, fuel flexibility and emissions
reduction for over 25 years. Soothill served as vice chair of the European
Technology Platform on Zero Emissions Fossil Fuel Power Plants, and also
led the committee of the Vision for Europe and Strategic Research Agenda
that spearheaded the Framework 7 program. He studied at Birmingham University
in the United Kingdom and is a fellow of the Institution of Mechanical
Engineers. |

Richard J. Parker
Richard J. Parker is the director of research and technology at Rolls-Royce Group,
based in the United Kingdom. He has held various positions since joining Rolls-Royce
in 1978, including managing director of compressor systems and director of
engineering and technology for civil aerospace. Parker is a fellow of the Royal
Academy of Engineering, Royal Aeronautical Society, and Institution of Mechanical
Engineers. He studied at Imperial College and Loughborough University, where
Parker serves as a visiting professor in the field of aerospace and transport

Paul Browning
Paul Browning is vice president, turbo-machinery products, at Solar Turbines,
based in the United States, where he is responsible for the design, manufacture
and procurement of gas turbine and centrifugal gas compressor products. Browning
joined Solar Turbines in 1998 and has held a variety of management positions
including general manager of Turbotechologia de Reparaciones S.A. de C.V. (Turbotec)
in Tijuana, Mexico, and group manager of Advanced Materials Technology. Previously,
he worked in the Corporate Research and Development and Power Systems business
units of General Electric Company. Browning received his education and training
at Carnegie Mellon University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. |
